Black book cover with the title Never Worry About Money AgainBy Jesse Mecham

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book on Netgalley.

I’ve been using YNAB software2Not an affiliate link for years now, but it’s honestly been mostly as a glorified check register. I never delved much into the various features of the software. While I occasionally watched their videos on YouTube, money was something I didn’t want to think about. (Let’s face it, no one becomes a novelist because they want to get rich quick!)

I always told myself, “It’s just money, there are more important things.” I was also raised with a “love of money is evil” mindset.

This book changed how I think about money.

One of the biggest revelations in this book is that my money is me. Sure, I’ve always known I traded some of my time and energy to get money, but I never really saw it as an extension of myself. This book encouraged me to start doing that.

Then it encouraged me to start asking what every piece of money is for–and to only ask that question of the money I actually have on hand.

Is my money for now or for later? Is it for creating ease in my life? Is it to use to express myself? Is it to help create change in my life or someone else’s life?

One of the biggest pieces of life-changing advice came when I read this quote: “You’ll get good with money as you align your spending with joy and meaning.

It’s only been a couple of weeks since I read this, and this is definitely a book I’m going to reread again and again before I can fully absorb all of it. But I can honestly say this has me thinking differently every time I spend money now, and I’m confident that is going to change my relationship with money for good.
