Maps

I make all of my own maps, using Campaign Cartographer 3 by ProFantasy (affiliate link). It’s a fabulous program and I’m still learning all of the amazing things it’s capable of.

What happened to Stormsinger and Stormshadow?

My blog post Writing an e-Book in Eight Hours has a lengthy explanation of how I wrote Stormsinger in, you guessed it, eight hours. It was a good story for having been written so quickly, but it was also short. Less than 10,000 words.

A lot of people don’t want to start a series when the first book is really just a very long short story.

Because I want my stories to reach more readers, I decided in the summer of 2024 to take action on an idea I’ve been kicking around since 2015, just 2 years after I released Stormsinger.

I decided to combine Stormsinger and Stormshadow and write another 12,000 words, as well as adding in several scenes that have only ever been included in the first omnibus.

I think it flows a lot better, and response from my beta-readers and critique partners has been very encouraging.

So on September 21, 2024, I unpublished the original first two books of the series, and began publication of A Song of Storm and Shadow, the new Book One of Storms in Amethir.

Art

Here’s Phuoc Quan’s lovely rendering of the City-State of Ranarr, called the White Stone for the white limestone the island is made of. In the left portion of the background you can see parts of Amethir in the distance.
