So today is the day! Stormseer is available now!
You can buy the e-book on Amazon, nook, iBooks, Kobo, and Smashwords. Print books will be available soon from Amazon.
Today I wanted to talk about some of the music I listened to while writing Stormseer. Before I go into details about playlists, I should explain that when I sit down to write, I can’t do it in silence. Or I can, but I really prefer to have music that fits the mood of what I’m writing. (This might explain why I have 101 GB of music on my external hard drive.)
When I’m writing epic fantasy, I stick with instrumental stuff: classical music, movie scores, game scores, and those awesome albums that are popping up now that are basically movie trailer music and concept albums. When I’m writing urban fantasy, I’ll play just about anything, from Vienna Teng to Loreena McKennitt to U2 to Emilie Autumn to Florence + the Machine to The Airborne Toxic Event to One Republic to Aly & Fila to Luke Batt to Jónsi to… You get the picture.
So here are some of the albums I listened to while writing Stormseer:
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Soundtrack) – Harry Gregson-Williams
- Kingdom of Heaven (Soundtrack) – Harry Gregson-Williams
- Gladiator (Soundtrack) – Hans Zimmer
- Music of the Middle East – Iskelu
- Desert Sands – Derek Fiechter & Brandon Fiechter
- Silhouettes – Jorge Méndez
- Battlecry – Two Steps from Hell
- Game of Thrones – Ramin Djawadi (Note: If I ever get a movie deal, I want this man to score it.)
- Clash of the Titans – Ramin Djawadi
- Mortal Instruments: City of Bones – Atli Örvarsson
- Immediate – Trailerhead
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Game Score) – Jeremy Soule
Like I said, I listen to instrumental stuff while writing epic fantasy, but I did have an idea playlist of modern music for Stormseer, if you’re interested in checking that out:
- Augustine – Vienna Teng
- All This and Heaven Too – Florence + the Machine
- Never Look Away – Vienna Teng
- Monster – Imagine Dragons
- Demons – Masha
- I Remain – Alanis Morissette
- A Hero Will Rise – Future World Music
- You Will Be This Legend – Really Slow Motion
Check some of the songs out! Even better, download a couple of the albums and listen to them while reading Stormseer! Hopefully you’ll enjoy them.
